Gassville man dies at fire scene
Newspapers in Baxter County, Arkansas, USA, reported on the discovery of a man’s body at the scene of a brush fire.
The Baxter Bulletin reported that the body of 79-year-old John P. Heenan, a resident of Gassville, was found near his fire-damaged truck at the end of Peace Valley Lane behind a locked gate. Evidence found at the scene indicated that he may have succumbed to the fire, according to a news release from the Baxter County Sheriff.
The Arkansas Democrat Gazette reported that the discovery was made by firefighters tackling an out-of-control brush fire.
Investigators believe the death was accidental but officials from the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office will attempt to determine the cause and manner of death.
